On the Legal Education Reform in Chinese Universities

Abstract: The legal education reform in Chinese universities has been carried out for decades and plenty of problems still remain. The cram teaching methods are still predominant in universities, which directly lead to the inefficiency of lecturing. The fact of teachers’ lacking of legal practice experience evokes various alienations in most of the universities in China: the alienation between theory and practice, the alienation among the relevant disciplines, and the alienation between the substantive laws and procedural laws. This phenomenon has greatly influenced the teaching quality and actual legal practice and has resulted in the in-capabilities of practicing related work. In the teaching aspect, the traditional knowledge lecturing has brought about the ignorance of legal philosophy and principles. Only by changing the above phenomena, can the legal education reform be deepened further.
