Abstract: There are many diverse ways of fulfilling the purposes that a university law school ought to pursue. In this lecture I point out some unique features of law at the University of Oxford (the federal system of colleges, the tutorial method of teaching, and a unique syllabus). I also set out some of the common principles that I think that law schools should live up to, and I conclude by commenting on the ways in which collaboration among universities in China and Europe may help to achieve the purpose of university law school.
