The Powerlessness of China's Legal Practice Education: Present Condition and Its Reform

    Abstract: In the past 30 years, China's legal education has cultivated a large number of legal talents for the legislative, administrative law, enforcement bodies and the legal practice organs, which had laid solid foundation for the law education and research. While the 21st century comes with a series of changes including the reform of legal professionals’ selection system, which requires that the present legal education be reviewed seriously, and the talent training mode be designed so as to reach the goals of training. By April 2010, there have been more than 620 universities and colleges to offer the bachelor degree of law with nearly 300,000 undergraduates. A system, consisting of a main body of bachelor, master, doctor of laws degree education, combining the specialized legal education and professional education has been formed. With the rapid development of legal education, the government education department has a basic quality control over the legal education through the establishment of core courses of law. However, the practice of legal education lacks of vitality, which has become the most influencing factor upon the improvement of the quality of China’s legal education. The course reform is an effective means for promoting the practice of legal education.
