The Dilemma and Outlet of Postgraduate Education of Law in China

    Abstract: The employment of masters of law is becoming practical in our country which caused a reflection on the reform of legal education. Some suggests following the US model and reforming the existing system of legal education; some maintains that law schools should reform the existing training program in response to the disconnection between legal education and the legal profession. This thesis argues that following the US model is not desirable. At mean time, this thesis also opposes professionalizing the law school's training program, believing that the goal of the postgraduate education of law still needs to be positioned as: cultivating the students to be researchers who have academic research ability. This thesis also suggests reforming the existing training program to improve the academic research ability of law graduates.
